Continua la preseason biancorossa. Dopo l’esordio amichevole con BYU Cougars, i ragazzi di coach Jamion Christian hanno affrontato i Kapfenberg Bulls, team austriaco che milita nella massima serie austriaca. Un’amichevole speciale valevole per la 20ª Edizione della Basket Summer League, organizzata dall’Associazione Che Spettacolo.
Se la prima uscita era terminata a favore degli avversari davanti ai 1350 cuori biancorossi del PalaTrieste, questa sera al PalaPaliaga di Monfalcone il risultato è stato favorevole alla squadra di coach Christian. Il quintetto base biancorosso vede partire Ruzzier, Filloy, Deangeli, Ferrero e Candussi. Bossi e Brooks a riposo precauzionale.
Gli ospiti si portano subito avanti con Zapf, a segno da due punti. A dare una scossa è il subentrante Campogrande con una doppia tripla, che tiene i biancorossi in partita con uno svantaggio di soli due punti a metà del primo quarto. Deangeli porta il risultato in parità (8-8), ma Williams porta avanti i suoi sottocanestro. Candussi da tre punti riduce lo svantaggio (10-12), Deangeli porta poi il risultato sul 12-12. È sempre il numero otto biancorosso a portare il primo vantaggio dei suoi con un tiro libero. Una penetrazione vincente di Ruzzier chiude il primo quarto sul 15-12.
Il secondo quarto comincia con un contropiede vincente di Ruzzier, che serve Campogrande per il 17-12. Il biancorosso mette a segno anche il successivo tiro libero che porta il vantaggio a sei punti. Ci pensa Filloy con una tripla a incrementarlo a nove. Grgic accorcia con due liberi, ma Candussi rimette le distanze. Il vantaggio rimane invariato fino alla metà del secondo quarto, Vildera lo allunga a undici. I Bulls accorciano nuovamente le distanze, ma la tripla di Filloy è chirurgica. Candussi porta il risultato sul più dieci (35-25). Sow mette a segno una tripla, ma è ancora Filloy a rispondere presente e a mantenere invariato il distacco. Baumann con una tripla allo scadere chiude il quarto sul 38-31 per i biancorossi.
Candussi indirizza subito il terzo quarto con due punti sottocanestro, ripetendosi dopo che Vötsch aveva risposto a sua volta tenendo vivi i suoi. Ruzzier porta il vantaggio a più undici con due tiri liberi. Risposta immediata di Sow (due punti), ma Antonio segna i primi punti personali e Trieste allunga ancora. I Bulls rubano palla e in contropiede accorciano con Krstic, a cui seguono i due punti messi a segno da Williams. È ancora il numero uno ospite a tenere vivi i suoi con due tiri liberi che riducono lo svantaggio a cinque punti. Gara viva, ma ci pensa Ruzzier con due tiri liberi a far respirare nuovamente Trieste. Sale poi nuovamente in cattedra Filloy con una tripla che dà ulteriore entusiasmo ai biancorossi e agli spettatori del PalaPaliaga. Ancora Filloy e due tiri liberi di Ferrero portano a dodici i punti di vantaggio. Gli ospiti accorciano e la terza frazione di gioco si chiude con il più dieci per i biancorossi.
Williams apre l’ultimo tempo con una tripla che galvanizza i Bulls. Ruzzier non è però da meno e risponde prontamente. Baumann partecipa alla gara di triple e porta i suoi a meno otto. Ancora Baumann e un tiro libero di Williams danno nuove speranze ai Bulls, che con una tripla di Grgic riducono a soli due punti lo svantaggio. Okoro sbaglia due tiri liberi negando così il pari ai suoi, Deangeli ne approfitta e con una tripla allunga il vantaggio. Sow non ci sta e con una tripla spinge i Bulls a cercare di evitare la sconfitta. Due tiri liberi di Candussi e la risposta di Sow mantengono il punteggio in equilibrio a metà del quarto. Ancora due tiri liberi, questa volta di Ruzzier, permettono ai biancorossi di allungare, ma il tiro di Sow è caldo e i Bulls rimangono in partita. La tripla di Filloy dà nuovo margine ai suoi. Le triple di Baumann, Campogrande e Williams vivacizzano il match. Doppio Ruzzier chiude il match sul 78-71 per Trieste.
Un passo importante nel percorso che pian piano sta avvicinando la squadra agli impegni ufficiali di Supercoppa a settembre e alla regular season a ottobre. Nel mentre il doppio impegno di venerdì e sabato in occasione del Lignano Basket PreSeason Tournament “Memorial Bortoluzzi”, che vedrà partecipare Pallacanestro Forlì, UEB Gesteco Cividale e Vigevano all’interno della palestra comunale di Lignano Sabbiadoro in Viale Europa, 142. Prima gara venerdì 1° settembre alle ore 19 con avversaria la Pallacanestro Forlì.

The “Biancorossi” preseason continues. After the friendly debut against the BYU Cougars, Coach Jamion Christian’s team faced the Kapfenberg Bulls, an Austrian team competing in the top Austrian league. A special friendly match that counts for the 20th Edition of the Basketball Summer League, organized by the Che Spettacolo Association.

Deangeli brought the score to a tie (8-8), but Williams pushed his team ahead under the basket. Candussi’s three-pointer narrowed the gap (10-12), and Deangeli then tied the score at 12-12. The number eight “Biancorossi” player brought the first lead with a free throw. A successful drive by Ruzzier closed the first quarter at 15-12.
The second quarter started with a successful fast break by Ruzzier, who passed to Campogrande for 17-12. The “Biancorossi” player also made the subsequent free throw, extending the lead to six points. Filloy extended it to nine with a three-pointer. Grgic shortened the distance with two free throws, but Candussi restored the lead. The advantage remained unchanged until the middle of the second quarter, and Vildera extended it to eleven. The Bulls once again narrowed the gap, but Filloy’s three-pointer was precise. Candussi brought the score to a ten-point lead (35-25). Sow hit a three-pointer, but Filloy responded and maintained the gap. Baumann closed the quarter with a buzzer-beating three-pointer, ending the quarter at 38-31 for the “Biancorossi”.
Candussi immediately directed the third quarter with two points under the basket, repeating the feat after Vötsch had responded to keep his team alive. Ruzzier extended the lead to eleven points with two free throws. Sow’s immediate response (two points) was followed by Antonio scoring his first personal points and Trieste extending the lead again. The Bulls stole the ball and closed the gap with Krstic’s fast break, followed by Williams’ two points. Williams again kept his team alive with two free throws, reducing the deficit to five points. The game was intense, but Ruzzier’s two free throws provided some relief for Trieste. Filloy then returned with a crucial three-pointer, further energizing both the “Biancorossi” players and the PalaPaliaga spectators. Filloy struck again, and two free throws by Ferrero extended the lead to twelve points. The guests narrowed the gap, and the third quarter closed with a ten-point lead for the “Biancorossi”.
Williams opened the final quarter with a three-pointer that boosted the Bulls. However, Ruzzier was quick to respond. Baumann joined the three-point game and brought his team to eight points behind. Baumann scored again, and a free throw by Williams gave new hopes to the Bulls, who reduced the deficit to just two points with a three-pointer by Grgic. Okoro missed two free throws, denying his team parity, and Deangeli seized the opportunity, extending the lead with a three-pointer. Sow was determined and pushed the Bulls to avoid defeat with a three-pointer. Two free throws by Candussi and Sow’s response kept the score balanced halfway through the quarter. Another two free throws, this time by Ruzzier, allowed the “Biancorossi” to extend the lead, but Sow’s shot was hot, keeping the Bulls in the game. Filloy’s three-pointer provided a new margin for his team. The three-pointers by Baumann, Campogrande, and Williams enlivened the match. Ruzzier’s double marked the end of the match with a 78-71 victory for Trieste.
An important step in the journey that gradually brings the team closer to the official commitments of the Supercoppa in September and the regular season in October.
