Ritorna dopo otto anni sul parquet del PalaTrieste Francesco Candussi, pronto a dare il suo importante contributo alla causa della Pallacanestro Trieste nella prossima stagione sportiva.

“Sono molto felice di poter tornare a Trieste, è una grande opportunità anche per riavvicinarmi a casa, una chance che ho voluto cogliere al volo. Qui ho vissuto due anni bellissimi, importanti sia per la mia crescita sportiva che professionale. La squadra ha un progetto ambizioso ed essere un elemento di questa “rinascita” è motivo di orgoglio, perché so cosa significhi vestire il biancorosso, ne conosco la responsabilità
Torno a Trieste dopo tanti anni, in cui qualcosa sono riuscito a costruire, ma la chiacchierata con Michael Arcieri è stata decisiva. C’è una grande voglia di riportare Trieste al piano di sopra, il prima possibile, con la consapevolezza che ci sarà tanto lavoro da fare e che dovremo affrontare delle difficoltà ,ma con tanta voglia di provarci. Avere alla guida della squadra un allenatore nuovo, alla sua prima esperienza in Italia, la presenza di una proprietà nuova, saranno uno stimolo tecnico e personale molto forte. Compito anche di noi veterani, sarà quello di aiutare coach Christian a capire le dinamiche di questo campionato per poter fare una stagione di alto livello.
Da parte mia sono sicuramente un giocatore più maturo rispetto a otto anni fa, che ha aggiunto nel proprio bagaglio tecnico molta esperienza: ho saputo abituarmi a diversi allenatori e adattarmi a diverse richieste, cercherò di fare lo stesso qui. Giocare da emergente, come otto anni fa, o da veterano sono due cose ben diverse. Il rendimento che ci si attende da me è certamente diverso, ma io stesso ho un approccio più maturo e consapevole alla pallacanestro. Adesso voglio restituire a Trieste quello che mi è stato dato quando ho avuto la possibilità di fare il salto di qualità e arrivare in Serie A.
In carriera il ricordo più bello è sicuramente la vittoria del campionato con Verona, riportarla in serie A dopo tanto tempo. E’ stato un momento importante, che ripaga gli sforzi e ti dà consapevolezza dei mezzi fisici e fiducia in un percorso. Anche l’esperienza a Bologna mi ha permesso di mettermi in gioco in una realtà difficile, allenandomi a gestire una grande pressione in una piazza molto calda. Tutte queste esperienze mi hanno permesso di essere qui oggi, per dare il mio contributo e conquistare con questi colori qualcosa di importante.
Quello che sento adesso è di essere al posto giusto: ho riguardato un po’ di vecchie foto sul parquet del PalaTrieste e la percezione che ho è proprio quella di un forte senso di appartenenza costruito in quegli anni. In squadra ci sono giocatori che lo hanno di nascita (penso a Lodo o a Stefano) e altri che, come me, lo hanno costruito. La gente, i tifosi, questo lo devono percepire, lo devono vedere perché il reale attaccamento alla città e alla maglia possono fare davvero la differenza”.

I lived two wonderful years here, which were important for my sporting and professional growth. I come back to Trieste after many years, but the chat with Michael Arcieri was decisive. There is a great desire to bring Trieste back to the top, as soon as possible, with the awareness that there will be a lot of work to do and that we will have to face difficulties, but with a great desire to try. Having a new coach at the head of the team, at his first experience in Italy, the presence of a new property will be a very strong technical and personal stimulus. It will also be the task of us veterans to help coach Christian understand the dynamics of this league to have a high-level season.
I am certainly a more experienced player than I was eight years ago, having added a lot of experience to my technical background: I have been able to get used to different coaches and adapt to different demands; I will try to do the same here. Playing as an up-and-comer, like eight years ago, or as a veteran are two very different things. The performance expected of me is different, but I have a more mature and conscious approach to basketball. Now I want to give back to Trieste what I was given when I had the chance to make a qualitative leap and get to Serie A.
In my career, the best memory is winning the championship with Verona. It was an important moment, which repays effort and gives you awareness of physical means and confidence in a path. Also, the experience in Bologna allowed me to put myself on the line in a difficult reality, training to handle great pressure in a very hot crowd. All these experiences have allowed me to be here today, to make my contribution and conquer with these colors something important.
The feeling I have now is that I am in the right place: I have looked back at some old photos on the PalaTrieste parquet and the perception I have is just that of a strong sense of belonging built during those years.
