Trieste, 25 giugno 2023 – Si separano le strade della Pallacanestro Trieste e di coach Marco Legovich. La società informa di aver deciso di non rinnovare il contratto al capo allenatore della stagione 22-23.
“Ringraziamo Marco per il suo lavoro, la sua passione e la sua dedizione, oltre che per la disponibilità dimostrata in queste settimane in cui ha atteso una nostra decisione che, seppur sofferta, è maturata nell’ambito del nuovo progetto sportivo”, ha dichiarato il Presidente della Pallacanestro Trieste Richard de Meo.
“La scelta che come società abbiamo compiuto oggi è molto difficile per tutti noi di Pallacanestro Trieste, ma è necessaria, e deriva dal fatto che siamo consapevoli di dover affrontare in Serie A2 una sfida particolarmente complessa. La rinascita della Pallacanestro Trieste deve procedere attraverso questo passaggio, e richiede in questa fase un head coach che possa contare su una lunga esperienza in panchina”, ha commentato il Presidente.
La società è al lavoro su questo tema e sta valutando una serie di profili sia italiani che esteri per il ruolo di allenatore. L’obiettivo è quello di raggiungere una decisione prima possibile, auspicabilmente nella prima settimana di luglio.
A Marco Legovich la Pallacanestro Trieste tutta augura con grande stima e affetto i più grandi successi sportivi: “Se da un lato questa è la decisione giusta, dall’altro vorrei ringraziare Marco a titolo personale. È stato estremamente accogliente all’arrivo del CSG e ho apprezzato i miei rapporti con lui; persino adesso, mostra di essere disposto a dare tutto per il successo del club. È una persona speciale e ha un futuro molto luminoso”, ha concluso il Presidente de Meo.

Trieste, June 25, 2023 – The path of Pallacanestro Trieste and coach Marco Legovich part ways. The club informs that it has decided not to renew the 22-23 season head coach’s contract.
“We thank Marco for his work, passion and dedication, as well as for the willingness he has shown in these weeks in which he has waited for a decision of ours that, although suffered, has matured in the context of the new sports project,” said Pallacanestro Trieste President Richard de Meo.
“The choice that we as a society have made today is very difficult for all of us at Pallacanestro Trieste, but it is necessary, and it stems from the fact that we are aware that we are facing a particularly complex challenge in Serie A2. The rebirth of Pallacanestro Trieste must proceed through this transition, and it requires at this stage a head coach who can count on long experience on the bench”, the president commented.
The club is working on this issue and is evaluating a number of both Italian and foreign profiles for the role of coach. The goal is to reach a decision as soon as possible, hopefully in the first week of July.
To Marco Legovich all of Pallacanestro Trieste wishes with great esteem and affection the greatest sporting success: “While this is the right decision, on a personal note I would like to thank Marco. He was extremely welcoming upon the arrival of CSG and I enjoyed my dealings with him; even now he remains willing to give everything to the success of the club. He is a special individual and has a very bright future”, concluded President de Meo.
